For those of you who don’t know, my husband temporarily lost his mind and booked us a last minute vacation to Hilton Head, SC!  The girls and I are all afraid to talk about the strange changes that have come over this man, because it might jinx it, and he might regain his sanity.  J

The trip, which we covered in 2 days, was a breeze.  The DVD players helped … we’ve never had them before on a long drive.  The whole way down we were watching the thermometer in our car go higher and higher, and though it didn’t get quiiiiite as warm as we had been expecting, we adjusted our expectations and found that it was not so hard to appreciate the high 60’s and mid 70’s. (Although it did reach 78 on my birthday.  Not many people get to go to the beach on their birthday!).  It’s not swimming weather, but that has turned out to be a blessing … Matt is already talking about more future trips to warmer climes so that we can really, really enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer.

The first couple of days were a little bit of an adjustment, because my sweetie kept thinking we needed to be cleaning, passing room inspections (I kid you not), and other such things.  He is still doing laundry like a madman, but we are grateful for that since we didn’t pack enough warm clothes.  After a couple of days he’s really gotten the hang of this relaxing thing, and we are so proud of him!  We have been having so much fun.  Today we are going for more bike rides in the neighborhood.  Hooray!

I can’t tell you how many times we have talked about how depressed we will be to return to Ohio.  Matt has remarked how he is quickly losing his love for the old homestead.  All it took was getting him here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He’s still talking about it in a 5 or 10 year plan … my goal is to move that number down a little.  J

My brother, the new Marine, is in town.  He is a lean, mean hunky Marine, and quite the celebrity.  He came over and I got these cute shots of the kids playing with him.  He's single, ladies!

Check out those guns!

If he weren't my "little" brother, I'd be swooning!  :-)

This is a picture of Owen through the arms of Aaron.  He's really doing it!!  What a strong little guy!

(This was posted very late because I forgot!)

There was high drama RIGHT up till the closing of our house on Friday.  At intermission at the ballet, Matt texted me that I should call him right ASAP because “we might not be closing.”  This was at 11am, their signing was supposed to be at 1pm, but the title company still had not received the info from their mortgage company.  One hour later it was back on, and delayed.  Problem was this:  we’d arranged to sign after them because after all they’d put us through, we just thought there would be too much tension in the room.  Truth is, I didn’t think I could be civil to the jerk.  (Deiter had the nerve to propose that if the mortgage company could not get the paperwork together in time, that we do a “dry close” where we sign the papers but the disbursement check gets handed out on Monday.  I know, right?)

So we ended up being there at the same time, in different rooms, and we left with a check in our hands.  All is well, as long as the title company doesn’t go belly up between now and the time our money clears.  Nah …

We are not homeowners.  We are debt free (until we buy another house).  And we are done with Deiter for good.

Yeah so that ballet …

I knew I was creating a memory for my girls that would last a lifetime, only I thought it would go like this:

“When I was “x” years old, my mom took us to see a beautiful, elegant ballet.  Then we went out to lunch and had the greatest time …”

Not like this:

“When I was “x” years old I was forced to see waaaay too much of some guy’s butt and …er … package.  It was so distracting that it took me several minutes to get over it.  In fact, his pants were so tight that I actually asked my mom if he HAD pants on.”

Oh well.  The girls all showed their maturity and got past it.  They all enjoyed the ballet, in spite of the … revelations … and we all really, really loved our first girls’ day out.  Without the little ones.  It’s the beginning of a bright future.

I wrote the next four posts on napkins at a restaurant tonight; proof to you that I do indeed blog a lot – it’s getting it on a computer that’s the problem.  I NEED A LAPTOP!  (I just showed that to Matt.)

OK, so tell me how sad is this?  My man LOVES football (though he’d deny it), but can no longer even watch football “through the snowflakes” on our one fuzzy channel.  Our old TV is broken.  It would be like watching Midnight football, only without the lights.  So we’ve gotten into this habit of going to a nearby sports bar, paying money to watch their TV, eat their food, and only watch part of a game because if we stayed for the whole thing our babysittin’ daughter would be up too late.

Do ya’ think we need a TV?

But I’m not really complaining.  I’m getting’ a night out!

It's pathetic that I blog so little these days.  I'm just so busy, and not really efficient at my time management.  Being on a schedule would probably help me so much, but it's absolutely painful for my personality.

Here are some things I AM getting done:

School

Wonderful, healthy meals

House cleaning.

That's almost literally all I'm doing these days.  I gotta live a little!

So tomorrow night I'm going out.  In fact, I'll be out all day -- it's the Nutcracker with my big girls in the AM, then lunch then ... guess what?  We are supposed to close on our house!!!  I know, I know, I've said that before.  I'll update you tomorrow.

After this weekend, it's a new start for me.  I'm going to get myself on a better schedule, and try to say a few words to you now and again.  It's not that I don't blog, it's just that it never makes it past my brain ... but I'm working on that.
