I know I'm a little late, but I've got to tell you about my Mother's Day present from Jonny.

He had made a cookbook at school, with his class.  You know the kind where the kids tell their versions of how to cook common foods.  There were some really cute recipes, like the ones that tell about the baseball game that should be played while the specific food is in the hot oven.

Well, Jonny brought his home on Friday, but I resisted looking at it.  I knew he's be so proud of himself if he could present it when the others presented theirs.  So I sent him upstairs to wrap it, telling him to  just grab the recently used bag that I had saved and put on my dresser.  Instead he hauled out the huge container on wheels that houses so, so, much wrapping paper, bags, tissues, and ribbon.

He dug through, found himself the perfect bag, and stuffed the cookbook into the too small bag.  Not finding tissue paper that satisfied him, he ripped three large pieces of Christmas wrapping paper off the roll, and topped the present oh-so-nicely.

When I went upstairs to check on him, he was deep in concentration about his little piece of art.  What could be cuter?  He could hardly stand it that I wasn't opening it, but he was excited about the "big party" planned for Sunday.  You know how Jonny loves a party!

After breakfast on Sunday, I was showered with homemade presents, secret purchases, and a coffee mug for a teacher (how cute!).  It was lovely, all of it, but I could not help but favor the one from my special boy, who had so lovingly prepared it for my weepy eyes.
